Gotta say avons 'magic x ' is the one for me, definately as good as the clarins one, but less than half the price and you get more in a tube, plus it has an spf of either 15 or 20 ( can't quite remember !) love the stuff, feels reet velvety when you put it on, smooths out a few wrinks and evens out the skin tone and stops the shine, I always buy it in bulk when its on offer, deffo worth a look :tup

Never tried one, but I've heard good reports about the Smashbox one. I'll keep my eye out for the Avon one then, as a work colleague sells Avon products.

I use the Bare Minerals one.

Isn't a primer the same as a serum? I occasionally use Boots No 7 protect and perfect when I remember. It had excellent reviews a few years ago so have stuck with it since.

No Shirley - a primer is just what it says it does - 'prime' your face ready for 'top coat' ;) It stops your foundation 'sliding off' your face - gives a matt appearance. Particularly good for keep eye shadow in situ.

Thanks BB. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread for some reasonably priced recommendations to give it a go then ;) God hubby'll have a fit - he can't believe how long it takes me to get ready now :D

I use the smashbox primer and love it, it makes your face feel like velvet and your make up goes on like a dream.

I've never taken it on holiday with me though as I don't wear a lot of make up on holiday, might take
this year though.

I've been using Benefit's Dr Feelgood for quite a while now and it definitely makes my chin less shiny!

I used to use smashbox all the time until I discovered Gosh primer,it's half the price. Feels the same as smashbox to me and you can get it in an anti-wrinkle formula too. I buy it from superdrug, think I paid £13.99 the last time I bought it. Lasts ages as well.

would they work on holiday though? I'm looking for something that would stop my make-up sliding off my face with the sweat :think . Will a primer stop foundation or a tinted moisturiser from disappearing in the heat? If I knew it would help I'd give it a go but don't want to waste my money if it wouldn't work in the Greek heat.

Shirley, primers are a MUST on holiday ! I wear tinted moisuriser, but put the primer on first and my make-up lasts all night without any shine . As the holiday cracks on and you get a bit more colour on your face, just use it on its own with a bit of bronzer, i honestly find that it evens out skin tone and stops any sweaty looking shine !! job done !!

I dont use foundation , only bronzer, but I do tend to look like a sweaty tomato of a holiday evening ,particularly when the humidity is very high .

Would something like that work well for me or can anyone suggest something that would??

Brilliant just what I wanted to hear- I'm going to buy some. I've got another thread going about foundation so I'm now sorted. Thanks everybody :tup

Got the Gosh anti-wrinkle one this morning. Next question is how much do you use and how long does it need to dry before putting on foundation? Thanks

You only need to use a tiny amount, just enough for your skin to feel silky. I wait a couple of minutes before applying foundation. I put it on a bit thicker around my crows feet area though in the hope it will fill them in a bit. :rofl

Thanks Sharon. Won't be trying it until I'm going somewhere special - don't want to waste it :rofl
