Im having problems paying a deposit for a long weekend at a hostal in Spain. The hostal requires a money transfer to their bank, they have supplied their bank account details,no problem with that, its my bank, they quoted me a £20 charge to send 70euros.I enquired at another bank I dont have an account with. they quoted me £15.
Ive enquired about a western union money transfer, but that entails me contacting the hostal to find out where their nearest agent is, supply me with the address, and to let me know the exact name of the person who will be collecting the money at the other end.
Ive considered sending cash but was informed by the PO that registered mail insurance is only valid in the UK.
Ive paid deposits on hotels before by my credit card details, but this place doesnt seem to use this option.
It happened to an aquaintance and they found an alternative way to pay.
I seem to recollect that in the end the bank decided it had made a mistake over the charges quoted so I am not sure how it eventually resolved. Don't see him any more to ask.
