I am posting under my real avatar and not the pseudonym of Goabound so I am sorry to those I have disappointed when trying to establish the "real" me! I did warn you I wasn't a big poster, more of a big reader. Anyway - the relevant question was asked late on the afternoon of 1st March in the Arabian Sea - whilst not an option to go on bended knee, the scene suited our personalities - we are not extroverts and a "bigger" proposal would have attracted attention that we may have had some discomfort with. Not quite the delivery by elephant I originally had in mind! Many many thanks to all all the PM's and good wishes received both on the forum and at the Carvery (more of that later!) - The response was positive by the way and Cheryl actually loved the £20 cheap ring from Argos!!!
My second point is dentists and this is my opinion only - I thought I would take advantage the lower prices of Indian dentistry! (LynneB, if you read this you may remember our conversation at the meet) - I had a non painful but "holey" filling that I had removed and replaced with a new white filling for a bargain £25! Work was completed by Dr Pimenta above the Newtons supermarket in Candolim. There is an adage that states "pay cheap, pay twice" - I now have a painful but "non-holey" filling! An expensive trip to a UK dentist to rectify is now required!
Carvery Meets - How cool are these!! If you are going for the first time, you may feel a little apprehensive about how it "pans" out! Firstly - put your name on the blackboard next to the stairs - I say board, its a black cloth! We got there about 8pm and you are a little apprehensive at first - whose a HT'er etc! Have your meal as normal, and if you are lucky, a HT'er may even introduce themselves. but don't worry if they don't! At about 9, things change! Literally! Tables are shoved together and a "group" magically forms! If you didn't make yourself known before this that you are a HT'er, then this is the most difficult part of your night - All you have to do is finish your meal and walk to the "group table" - there is no initiation ceremony where you have to dance naked, prove that you can drink a Kingfisher though a straw up your nose, or anything- you simply walk over!
You will be met by a tribe of welcoming faces and smiles! Chilly, Split, LynneB, MikeRichardson, SamtheBoater to name but a few.
Special mention to SamtheBoater for the recommendation of jewellers - we had a fabulous ring made and a great price! We chose our own diamond and had it offset with Cheryls birthstone, topaz! When I find out how, I 'll post some pics!!
Prices for Feb/March 2010 are horrendous at the moment so will be looking at cheapest deal to secure a direct flight, leave the accomodation and then no doubt badger the good people on here for a place to stay!
I will also draft a report on theTiger and Tusks trip and our journey with a minibus driver who even the Turkish and Egyptian drivers would no doubt stand and applaud!
Final thing to all footballers - check out MikeRichardsons posts re football - they are a great bunch of lads and you will have fun - Only costs 100rupees "subs" although you will lose a bucket load of sweat and half a lung.
