Because I have a bad back
What I want is addresses so I can find them on my street map (TomTom)
and work out if I need to have a taxi to get there and back or not
or if in the long run car hire is cheaper

and BTW we are in the Gran Canaria forum on the night life thread

OK..IF your up near the (Europa centre) you will find most thing in a small area bars/restaurants...even with a bad back (like my wife's got) you will manage, but to get to the other restaurants and bars i would suggest a taxi down and up to the commercial centre or the prom, the taxis are cheap, very cheap.

the walk from the prom to the bottom centre is flat also so you wont have a problem.....ENJOY

What are the apartments you are staying in called?

We've stayed up the Europa Hill and there were plenty of bars and restaurants up there without having to come down into the Commercial centre of an evening if you don't fancy it.

We never walked either up or down the hill We either caught the bus down or jumped in one of the many taxi's as they aren't dear.

Hiya, i recently worked in Puerto Rico and the Apartments your staying in are directly opposite the Europa Centre. There you'll find bar's including Irish bars and Yates and restaurants. It's full of italian restaurants. This CC is smaller than the main commercial centre, which is livlier but has more variety. It's hard to say which is the best places to go as there is such a diverse selection. What alot of people also seem to miss out on while they're there is the harbour/ puerto rico sea front, which has some lovely places and fantastic views while you're relaxing. Amadores beach also has nice bars and restaurants esp ciao ciao and again lovely views. If you do wanna try something more traditional the best place you can go is a little local town called arguineguin. All along the harbour there is around 7 traditional restaurants, and a little hint for the canaries. Don't place to much emphasis on the decor of the restaurant, the best places to go are generally the one's that are full of canarians. As you say u may have trouble with the hills, there is a regular bus service known as the yoyo bus that goes up n down the hill every 20 mins and taxi are very cheap. It's metered n your looking at around 3.50 to the bottom of the hill and 5.50 to arguineguin. ]

I stayed in the Eden on Feb but been to gran canaria a few times now.
You come out of the eden turn left go through a flat pathway over the road and your at the europa centre where all the shops and bars are.

Best restaurant by far is Bistro Frere looks small but the chef nigel cooks everything fresh, they give the kids stuff to do while they wait.
Nice kids meals aswell.
Menu is things like beef stroganoff not to be missed fillet steak husband said best he ever had, chicken chasseur.
It is all beautiful served with fresh veg try it at least once it is on top level of europa around the back over looking car park.
Also same level on the corner of same row try el brassero nice steak place where they cook meat on charcoal grill presentation is fab.
Chino canton is nice chinese bottom level of europa just by steps.
Avoid the lousinana italian at back of europa we didnt enjoy it and we love italian.

Also not an irish bar but extreeemz which is bottom level at back looking at car park run by Russ is fab for a night out good laugh, good with kids mine love it in there we will be back in october.
