I don't think there's a lot you can do, apart from try your insurance company.

I agree with sunaddict. Fog is nobodys fault and for safety reasons the crew can only operate for so long before statutory rest breaks must be taken. I would contact your insurance company for any expenses you have incurred and as for compensation, take it as an unfortunate incident and put it down to experience.

You should be able to get a letter from the airline confirming the delay and then you can claim from your holiday insurance.

The fog was not caused by the airline company and all crew members are only allowed to work a maximum number of hours. If the crew go "out of hours" they have to be stood down until they can fly again or until another crew can be provided.

Unfortunately, it's just one of those things that can go wrong when it comes to travel plans which is one of the reasons you should always take insurance if you want to be recompensed for such issues.

Had it been a technical issue then that would have thrown a different light on things but nobody can be held responsible for the weather.

I don't understand why they allowed you to board the plane the next day though as they must have known the crew would go out of hours?
