We are in the process of buying a house in Lanzarote.
We just need a little advice as this is a new adventure for us. Has anyone used Quills Wills? We are considering setting up a family shelter but not sure if this is the best thing to do. We need advice from people who have set up this shelter and any feedback from it. Also any experiences at all from Quills Wills.
Thanks
I've not used them, so can't give you any help, but have you asked your estate agent, or solicitor? They should be able to advise you.
We are receiving mixed reviews about them so not sure which way to turn. When we mention forming a shelter to estate agents they say they have never heard of them and not sure what they are so they cannot advise. The only reason for forming a shelter is to save on tax, death duties etc. from both Spanish and UK law but we don't want to form this if it is going to cause major problems in years to come. We are aware of the tax amnesty that finishes next week so what the Spanish Government will bring out next is anyone's guess!
Not sure anyone can predict what is going to happen in the years to come Can I ask where you are getting these mixed reviews from, and the info on the tax amnesty? Is this just Lanzarote or mainland Spain too?
We have been talking to expats on the island as well as estate agents. There is also a large advert in the Lanzarote Gazette about the tax amnesty ending on 22nd June. We just don't want to do anything that may jeopardise our position in the future.
With regards to mainland Spain I cannot comment. ALso not sure if its just Lanzarote or all the Canaries but there must be something brewing or is it just a scare tactic from the Spanish?
It's anyone's guess which is why we need advice.
I would avoid like a plague those will firms, just see a proper lawyer.
Good advice - stay clear.
