Looking at Bougainvillea Apartments in Polis - Cyprus West
We are a couple with a wee lad of 8 looking for a chilled out holiday, not into bars and clubs and want to avoid that whole thing.
We are into photography and our wee lad just loves swimming
Anybody got an experience?
Many thanks
hi the bouganvilla is excellent just on the outskirts of the village peace n quiet prevail nice accom few resteraunts in village nice chilled out feel you will enjoy
They drive like maniacs and will try to run you off the road
Other than that - it's sunny, there are beaches.
a generalisation, which I feel is a tad harsh, never noticed anything like that in all the time I've visited the island, but each to their own I suppose..
Our finding were that the Cypriots are friendly until they got your money, if you have a problem and ask for it to be fixed they do their sulky face thing and shrug their shoulders.
Lets just say for example - the appts we stayed in - the temp was 38 degrees in the shade, the aircon in the room was not working (which we had to pay £5 extra a day for) the response was the Vietnamese girl (that seemed to work 18 hour days) sprayed half a tin of WD40 in the unit and the Cypriot owner didn't even bother to have a look. Because the aircon didn't work that was it - no solution not even to offer of a fan in our bedroom.
Without tourism that island would fall over - fast.
We spoke to lots of other tourists there and most were of the same opinion. The ex-pats that we spoke there made it very clear that there is one rule for the Cypriots and another for everyone else. They are seriously racialist people and think they are God's gift.
Outside the attitude we loved the place, the food is awesome and very healthy.
The litter is disgusting and sad and is again a reflection.
TAandG wrote:Generalisation - yes you are correct - we also met some very nice Cypriots but I would say the 80 / 20 rule. There is some underlying problem with the Cypriots attitude and I am still trying to find out what the 93.B graffiti sprayed everywhere means. Perhaps something to do with the Mafiosi's thing that is starting up.
Nothing as sinister as mafiosi, its the new round of conscripts for the army, born in whatever year, in this case 1993. The B means they enlist in the summer, any seen with an A are January recruits. There is sometimes oom added to the end so 91Boom, I'm informed that this is purely for aesthetic purposes, and each year they tag everywhere in an attempt to outdo the one's who have gone before.
I've only ever seen it around Polis, Latchi, and Argaka, so I can only assume there is a training establishment or some sort of army base in the area.
In my observation I didn't see and business with names that sounded non-Cypriot to me. I would say its closed shop for non-Cypriots!
