this maybe the wrong forum to ask this question but does anyone know if it is possible to recharge the portable dvd player on the plane. 10 hours for the kids with 2.5 hrs viewing time spellss trouble.

Unless you are flying Business/First Class on a scheduled carrier it is extemely unlikely that you will be able to re-charge any portable electrical device. Does it have a removable battery pack? In which case you might be able to purchase a 'spare' and gain extra tiem that way. othrwise you'll have to just hope that the in-flight entretainment includes a film that will keep them occupied for at least aprt of the journey.
Failing that you'll have to resort to old fashioned forms of entertainment like books that don't need a power supply :-)

Take the GameBoy as well, that should take up a couple more hours My son took his PSP with a couple of UMD movies to watch in case the in-flight entertainment wasn't much good. Between my 2 kids they had a GameBoy each, mp3 player each, and son's PSP. I was going to take my portable DVD player too, but it would have made my hand-luggage overweight and it was only a 4 hour flight to the Canaries
Im pretty sure your not allowed to charge item on an aircraft, cant remember which airline i flew with but we were advised you can power you laptop but it is prohibited to charge the laptop. So i would imagine its the same on all airlines.
