Luxury Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado in Samana,Dom Rep. -set on its own island - just got back and its pretty well the best mainstream AI that we have stayed in whilst visiting the Carib. Advantage also that it has just gone Adults only.

I can highly recommend the El dorado Seaside Suites in Mexico. It's a small boutique type hotel, all restaurants are a la carte (including breakfast) 24hr room service. The resort was very laid back and food, service and accommodation was excellent.
We had originally booked to go to their sister hotel (El Dorado Maroma) which has approx 70/80 rooms, but due to issues we had with Thomson we have since rebooked with Virgin and are now staying at the Secrets Maroma Beach.
