Thinking of going to Turkey around 22nd October, we usually go to Marmaris, my friend has suggested to try a different resort, does anyone have any suggestions? Would'nt like to travel far from airport to resort.

I would try the resorts served by Antalya airport as these tend to be year round resorts whereas other resorts served by Dalaman are winding down for winter.Side or Alanya have lovely beaches and have busy towns.I am not so sure how busy Belek would be.
We went to Olu Deniz late last October, and loved it, the resort was still all open and still lots of people in the restaurants and bars.
It is also the World Championship Paragliding competition in Olu Deniz during that time so there is lots going on in the air.
Olu Deniz is about a 45 min transfer from Dalaman, can be done slightly quicker with a private transfer using the tunnel at Gocek.
You also have the resort of Hisaronu 5 mins away, if you want something a bit livlier.
