Holiday review sites are only as good as the people who subscribe to them. You only really need to look here on HT to confirm what I say.
Consider the total membership of HT besides all those who just lurk there in the shadows reading what others have said. If everyone who is a member posted a review we rely would be inundated. Those who were researching would be overwhelmed with the amount of information and the number of posts complaining would drop dramatically.
Consider how many posts we have had complaining about various destinations - somehow they do not match with the reviews. Indeed if reviews had been available then it is possible there would not be a complaint in the first place.
I agree that any review is personal to the person taking the holiday. What suits one definitely does not suit another. We will always have someone who complains because the food is not like mother used to cook. People who live in multi cultural areas of this country without noticing suddenly find that a country is full of foreigners, at least to them. On any holiday I have ever taken I could find something negative to say, and the one real holiday from hell we had many years ago had some very enjoyable and positive moments.
For those of you who do post a review - many thanks it has been a great help to many.
For those who don't - perhaps you might consider that the great holiday you had was due in part to the reviews here on HT.

You have a very valid point. I am often astounded by just how many people are on our reviews at any time. Yet, although new reviews are steady they don't equate at all to those viewing. It doesn't take long to write a review and it will be read by so many people. Unlike some sites, if your hotel is not there you can ask for it to be added here.
So, good or bad, please find time to write a review. You can also be assured that we are totally independent. Our webmaster started this site after he had a bad holiday and he felt strongly that folks should know the truth before they go- mind you I don't think he expected to end up with a site quite as big as it
