Yes, you can buy phone cards in supermarkets/stores, just ask. There are usually phone booths in the usual prominent places.

A few years ago when we were in Anaxos there was a phone booth on the main road just outside a supermarket where you could buy phone cards.

Sorry to hijack your thread Scrumpy but my question is related and it saves starting a new topic.
I've never phoned home from Greece before but I want to this year as I'm going on my own to Kefalonia so just want to be able to ring and let them know I got there OK - does anyone know the numbers for the UK that I use at the start? Is it 44 or have I imagined that?

from greece 00-44-[then leve out the first 0 from the area code] -rest of the number...
eg 01234 567890 would be 00 44 1234 567890
