Hiya
me and my other half are hoping to book a romantic weekend away. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel. Price isnt too much of an issue, but must be somewhere not too far from Berkshire area.
any ideas?
Have a look here
Kianic, in the Berkshire area you have, the Oakley Court Hotel, beautiful setting on the banks of the River Thames mid way between Maidenhead and Windsor, or there's always Cliveden Hotel (famous for the Profumo Affair) again a very beautiful setting. Good luck with your seach. Scoya.
Good luck with your search !!!
4 posters and jacuzzis would be nice but probably pushing it a bit!
Try something around Matlock or Matlock Bath...There's probably somewhere romantic in that area..or somewhere else in the peak district.

Griffon forest in flaxton, york is gorgeous!!! very romantic and peaceful. four posters and hot tubs outside...dont know how cheap you want it though! its not the cheapest of places but well worth it!!! Its in the hoseasons lodges and parks bochure.
Thanks for the replies so far..keep them coming, these two sound interesting.. I will check them out....I have been considering the Peaks and York, was even thinking about Chester too...
Tinka14, when are you thinking of taking the break? Be aware that York Racecourse is hosting Royal Ascot in June and prices will no doubt be hiked up accordingly as lots of visitors are expected so don't plan a trip to York June 14th - 18th.
Hi, We are thinking of going on Friday 10th June but now we are thinking of Portmadog in Wales as I've never been and although it's a bit further than we wanted to go, it looks lovely.. so my next question will be about Wales!
Romantic and cheap eh!!! we stayed at a place called the Pye Wipe Inn, in Lincoln. Not exactly four posters, but a lovely new room, lovely decor good sized bathroom, theres a lovely pub on site, meals can be arranged, and breakfast is included. its set out of lincoln in the countryside, just off the A46, overlooking a river and there are regular boats that can take you into the town... or its a short taxi ride away. It was about £50 a night so not too bad, i was pleasently suprised by it and will return!
We went to Matlock Bath around 10 years ago.
Fantastic access to lots.
Amazingly we had one of the best curry meals ever.
They looked after us both so well.
For us it was a romantic time.
In 10 years alot can change but I will never change my mind about going back. Maybe sooner than I might have thought now.
Can anyone recommend a romantic hotel (4-poster beds, big baths, etc) anywhere in the South (dont mind travelling).
The hotel is used by the England Rugby Team as a base when playing at twickenham and it has suites to all tastes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've had a look on the website and its perfect- just what I'm looking for.
we were there a couple of years ago when the spa area was being refurbished, and it was clearly going to be something different.
you will be made to feel really special.
let is know what you think.

Here's another idea for you....The Roundabout Hotel, Pulborough, West Sussex.
I've been there for lunch and dinner a few times as it's near where I live, lovely setting

Ever thought about a visit to Tunbridge Wells? So much to do there and nice hotels. Have a nice time wherever you go.
Have a look at Amberley Castle.

Situated in a beautiful setting, this luxurious castle is absolutely superb.
The bedrooms offer different settings (some with 4 poster, half tester etc) and I think ALL have jacuzzis in the bathroom.
Excellent restaurant too and gorgeous grounds.
Don't know what your budget is like, but how about Le Manoir - Raymond Blanc's place in the Oxfordshire countryside....this has to be the most romantic (and expensive) place we have stayed in - each room is individually designed and very spacious - some with their own gardens and some with own courtyards etc. The service is unintrusive and exemplary. They have amazing grounds to walk in too and obviously, the food is to die for. See
