I'm sure the Marinha rooms are large enough to take a third bed for an adult. Certainly the romm we were in could easily have taken anoter bed and still had plenty of room. We were in the annexe.
3 of us stayed at the md in the annexe, room was a little cramped and I would certainly book 2 rooms next time. 3 women 3 cases 742 pairs of shoes 
Well if you dont have 742 pairs of shoes then a 3rd bed can easily fit in the rooms at the MD.

I stayed at the Marinha Dourada 2 years ago, in the buildings near to the restaurant. We had a room for 3 people - there was a double bed and a single bed. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us - and it was 3 adults.

The third bed in the room we had was a proper single bed (it even had sliding doors in the base for extra storage).

That will be the tour opperator telling you that, to cover their back side.
Why not contact the hotel ?
Hi im a seasoned guest of MD & would say that they have rooms with two bedrooms, if you contact the hotel by email im sure they will bend over backwards to accomodate you. They certainly have gave us rooms of our choice when we have emailed to ask.
