Heard that from whom?
If anything, they are more likely to take you for a nice beach walk, buy you jasmin, tell you that you are the most beautiful woman they have ever seen etc etc regardless of your age/what you look like etc etc
If you take it all with - you will be fine.
As for Royal Azur - that was recommened to me by my rep in Bel Air (Hammamet too) after yet another sleepless (noise till 5 am) night.
I have not been there but I was told it is a nice quiet hotel.
Bel Azur has got some reviews here as well, have a look:

Above all- enhoy your holiday
Hi. were off to the Royal Azur hotel on the 24sept .We were wondering if anyone knows the e-mail address of the hotel. If so would you let us know Thanks.Nige&Nic
The Royal Azur doesn't appear to have an e-mail address according to the site below. The phone number, however, is shown as 00 216 72 278 500 and the fax as 00 216 72 278 999. Hope this is some help.

Good luck !
Kind regards from the Netherlands,

I've been amazed at the lack of response to e-mails. In March I e-mailed the El Hana Residence and the Marhaba and only the Residence replied (extremely promptly) so I stayed there. Last month I e-mailed the Residence, El Hana Beach and Marhaba and none of them replied so I booked Sousse Palace through Lowcost beds. It surprised me that they could afford to ignore potential customers as the hotels are rarely full.
yeh i e-mailed a few places with no reply
Yes, anwering e-mails seems to be a very big problem in Tunisia !
Hi.Thanxfor all the info.Looks like you were all right. We are flying out in the morniing ,and not got an e-mail back. Nige&Nic
Hope you have a lovely holiday. If you feel you really do need to contact the hotel first I would give them a ring as most speak English, though you may need to talk fairly slowly on the phone. If you use your landline go through Best Minutes - dial 0871 999 8484 first then wait and you will be told the cost is 10p a minute then dial the number in the normal way - 00 216 72 278 500 by the look of it.
