Hi there

Have a look on the tripadvisor website (Algarve or Albufeira forum)

There's a thread about it on there.

Hope it all goes ok. :)

Why don't you email Riu and see what they say - after all they should know!

You can contact them via the web site - http://www.riu.com

According to their website it says it will be completes summer 2008 - bookings look like going from 1st August.

We are looking at going the the former Riu Falesia - now the Porto Bay Falesia which is next door in January.

Minky Moo, someone who is staying at the Rui Guarana now has rang home and one of their parents have posted on the trip advisor Algarve or Albufeira (not sure which) forum so say that the hotel is all done and is fantastic! :hyper

So you can stop worrying now :)
I'm sure you'll have a great time! :cheers

Just got home from a weeks stay.

Still a few teething problems... and the hotel suddenly became packed to the rafters on Thursday so there were limited sunbeds and getting food was a scrum.

On check in, make sure you ask for your complementary bottle of water as there is NO shop on site. The nearest shop is down a fairly steep hill of about 250 yards. OK on the way down but not good for a an OAP with a heart condition on the way back :(

There are infact 295 steps down to the beach. We went before the sun got up ;)

The staff are amazing.... very friendly and they speak superb English.
If you want to watch an evening show you need to be in the bar EARLY as its gets packed out before 9.30.

Had a lovely time, the food is great and the hotel clean and bright. :D

Newtownards, this hotel has been the subject of mch discussion on the Albufeira forum of tripadvisor dot co dot uk.
There are also a couple of reviews on there now too I believe.
It may be worth your while having a look on that site.

(From what I've read about the place, it all sounds really good!)

Left hotel 3rd July 2008. Party of 4 adults for one week.
Hotel is brand new, so all fittings are in first class condition.10/10
Food. Found to be cooked and left to stand, somewhat repetative and bland. 6/10
Dining halls were not what one would expect, table cloths brushed over with the waiters hand, instead of changing for next guest. knives/forks had to be collected, a bit like a cafe. 4/10.
Pool area. Overcrowded, loungers with no matress and close together. Very clean and towels supplied at a cost of 10 euros, which was given back at the end of holiday. 7/10
Staff. All staff A1. 10/10.
The main draw-back for us, we expected a 4* hotel with similar occupants to us. NO, that was not the case, mainly Spanish & Potugese families with hundreds of small children. 3/10.
