Noticed that my topic hasn't had many views and no comments. I love this part of Majorca but it's obviously nowhere near as popular as Magaluf/Palma Nova and Alcudia. Wonder what it is that puts people off??
I agree with you, I like the east coast as well. Best beaches by far. I don't think it's because they don't like S'illot/Sa Coma but it's just that they don't know it's there. A lot quieter I agree and none of the rowdyness you can get in other resorts. Whilst there I recommend taking a boat trip down to Porto Cristo/Cala Romantica or the Calas de Mallorca and see what lovely beaches are over there.
maybe people should get out and about a bit instead of staying around the hotel or apartment complex which is really killing these resorts.
Very true and the All inclusive is the big killer
Everyone has thier own choices but not spending anything -- Coffee or the odd beer -- will close down many of the businesses in tourist resorts on the island
Just back from Cala Bona and noticed a few changes in S'illot. My fave restaurant is under new ownership Antic so very disappointed, also lots of empty shops, hotels and cafes. The beach is still fab and the area is lovely so will be back next year. CBG
Hi. Yes S'illot is getting a bit 'run down' on the back streets but on the front, I think, it is far nicer than Sa Coma with the bars and restaurants overlooking the sea. I mentioned a few restaurants in my first posting which were first class. We are definitely going back next year. It was ideal for a 'girly break'. Beautiful hotel (Oasis Punta Amer), some good food, nice walks = total relaxation. Bliss
