Anyone else had trouble like this.
We have been going to Goa for Five years, as I worry so much about getting the visa's right we do it through a lovely little travel agent near by, the usual story you pay them to take it up and they bring them back within a few days, never had a problem.
Last year we had to renew our passports so went through the usual procedure, only this time the Indian embassy queried my husbands passport as its Irish, does he live here etc etc, I explained to the young man that yes he is Irish but he was only born there, in actual fact he has lived in England longer than me 64 years to be precise, anyway they still wanted an address in Ireland as to where he lived so we told them where he was born and thank goodness they sent the passport back with the visa. We put it down to the fact that the passport was new so they were probably being cautious.
So along we go this week with the passport with the visa in from last year and also two council tax bills from 2005 and 2012 to again prove that my husband lives here. And yes guess what, they are querying it again and now want council tax forms from 2010 and 2011 which of course we dont have as we now probably like most people shred things when they are old. Most of our bills are paid by direct debit so havnt got any recent ones of those. So tomorrow Aidan is off to the council to see if he can get copies of our 2010 and 2011 council tax forms.
So now sadly we have decided that this is getting too much and probably wont book again. Luckily we are not going til March so have time to try and sort this out, just glad we never left it til a month before we go.
Anyway sorry to go on, but just wish us luck we can get to Goa for one last time.
Sue
Hi rebel sue if your husbands passport is an Irish one why not send it to dublin we live in belfast and make the trip down but you can post the form also if you go on to the indian embassy dublin its like the old days you can print off the form fill it in(much less info than the british version)and only one normal sized passport photo, and dont worry because you live in britain as we do,its great for us we make it a day out go to dublin and for an extra 50euros you can get it same day when we take price of return envelopes away panic about are passports being lost well worth the extra also if you read on the site it also does british passport holders.if you need anymore info PM me.slan
Oh lovely thank you, I never thought of that would make life so much easier.
