Hi ,
Has anyone had good experiences/ bad with different sailing schools ?
I have had a couple of both and would be interested in finding new ones to try .
I am now Skipper level but having no boat , still rely on cruises/courses etc run by different schools . Has anyone had any they could recommend?
Thanks Ann
Gocek was a fantastic sailing area. The locals we met made us so welcome and the scenery was breathtaking. Wind was perfect too.
Only downside is that area is non tidal so my certificate only covers the Med.
Our crew got on so well together we have booked a bareboat charter for later this year back in Gocek.

Brilliant place , really lovely . Ideal too, as some days we had strong winds but in the group of islands above Gocek it was still ideal sailing conitions .
Can recommend Kapi Creek or Wall Bay as they have lazy lines and a jetty and both will help you moore up - still you pobably know all this from your day skipper adventure .
We did head East for a visit to Ekincik.... west of Marmaris ,... we went to the bay on the west side but it only had one very nice but more cosmopolitan restaurant and we prefered the traditional places , sail took us about 6 hours ad we picked a good day weatherwise ...
when are you off - i will definately go back here
Ann
not recommend trafalgar sailing school , based in Gibralter . It is ok for a cruising holiday but lacking as a school . This maybe partly because the area does not cover as much oppertunity to cover all the syllabus
I enjoy many sailing courses/schools but found this one lacking on covering the syllabus and more commercialised & money orientated than satsfying their customers needs.
We did not travel very far and often we had nights back in the base ...only made it max 3 hours from base on 2 occasions.
We witnessed them signing off peoples completion of topics on the syllabus , without even being covered or mentioned .
If looking for this sort of course I would recommend British School , who take you down to the Channel Islands etc . Youll gain experience of long sailing trips and sharing shifts :-some trip of approx 16 hours , you wont return to base until the end and the whole time you are spent being taught intensely.
