Hi,
Just booked up to go to this resort with Skytours at the end of May for two weeks. Have had a look back at some other posts for info and wondered if anyone can answer some questions for me:-
1. We plan on getting a hire car and will probably go with CARJET. It seems that you can only collect from Mahon. Is this true or will they deliver to the complex? Can you drop the car back to any location at the end of the hire period? Is there another hire compant we should look to be using (hire period will be seven days)?
2. Does anyone have a map of the complex so we can start getting our 'bearings' early?
3. Does any know what excursions Skytours do or recommend anythat we should go on or avoid?
4. Can anyone recommend places to eat (two adults and one five yr old)?
5. Any pointers on what to look out for on the complex (good or bad)?
Thanks,
John
There are car hire 'shops' around the resort or your rep will sort one out. They deliver to the complex and you leave them there too, usually with a full tank of fuel. Getting a hire car in Son Bou will cause you no problems.
There are many places to eat too, I never found any bad ones.
The complex runs paralell to the beach and set back behind a nature reserve area. The start of it can be seen in the middle and left of the picture.
I would suggest you try to get an apartment a little away from the middle of the complex as this is where the evening entertainment happens. It can be a little noisey as people walk past late on.
The picture comes from here (link) which is one of the pages of my site. There's a bit more Menorca stuff there too.
Have a good 'un

What kitchen equipment is available in these apartments, as it varies depending on which brochure I've read??? Is there really a microwave oven??
What sort of play areas is there for a 4 year old who thinks they are really 16!!??
Look forward to hearing from anybody who could give me some accurate information!!
I've stayed in or visited Son Bou each year since and the apartents still look good. Some are better placed than others, I hope you get lucky.
There is a play area but its quite basic.
I can't tell you anything about the cooking facilities inside the apartments, but there is a children's play area, and there is a large pool with water slides, so that should amuse your child for a few minutes at least!!
We went to San Jaime with Thomson and there wasn't a microwave in our apartment. Some people we met up with, went with First Choice and they did have amicrowave, but no electric kettle. I suspect it varies as to who you travel with and as per a previous poster, it's th luck of the draw as to which apartment you end up with.
We will go back again, but perhaps look for a private rent...
John
There are a lot of the apartments in the San Jaime complex which are privately owned and let out to the tour operators through a property management company. There is a minimum level of equipment the apartments have (as per the holiday brochures), but some of them have extras (microwaves, kettles etc). It doesn't matter which tour operator you travel with, it's purely the luck of the draw what you will get in your apartment.
Once again, enjoy!
There are now more places to eat with a choice of food styles and plenty of gift shops. This is an image looking up the road with the beach behind.

My friend has booked to go to go to Jaime apartments in August and would like to know if there is a waterpark nearby? Many thanks
I would have to say no. There are no water parks on the Island! There are a few places with the odd flume etc, there is even one of these on the complex. Like the others you will find its small and not realy what most people would call a water park.
Thanks a lot. I'll let her know
There are 2 waterparks on the island, 1 in Cala n Forcat and another in Son Bou. But I have to say neither are anything special
Sorry the other park is in Cala n Bosch not Son Bou
I am thinking of booking San Jaime Apartments in Son Bou for late next May, and was looking for advice on which part of the complex is best to stay in. I would prefer to be nearest the beach or resort centre. Would appreciate any advice or information.
Many thanks
Sue
Zone 3 is the closest to the resort centre and the only entrance to the beach. That said, zone 4 is only another two or three minutes, but some parts of zone 5 can be quite a fair walk!
We stayed in Zone 5 and while it was a way from the centre, probably 10-15 minutes stroll, it wasn't too bad and it was a lot quieter, but with its own recepcion, restaurant, pool and games tables.
I am also new to this site but we have been to son bou for the last few years. We always stay in zone 4 as we find it is the quietest zone as we have small children. There is plenty of room for them to play outside but you are only a two minute walk to zones 3&5.Zone 3 has the childrens play area and the maze but it can be noisy in the evening .
