Hi,
I am travelling to Portugal in August and staying at the Acoteias Barril apartments in Santa Luzia. Does anyone know them?
I am just interested in things to do and see in and around that area. We are a family of 5. Three kids, 12, 9 and 3.
Is there a water park nearby> Markets? Supermarkets?
We are on a budget thanks to the countries recession So any ideas on eating out chealy would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Food if you keep to the less tourist restaurants and use the ones the local use you will find it a lot cheaper and better food, Chicken and Pork are the best buys and you always get a good big plate full. Not sure about any Supermarkets but there is a new shopping centre just opened in Tavira.

Aldi is in square P1 at the roundabout. This is probably the road you would be coming into Tavira on.
Lidl's entrance is in square N5 where taxi symbol is shown.
The Municipal Market is in square L13 (good for fresh fish, meat, fruit, veg), weekdays - stalls tend to close by early afternoon.
Pingu Doce is a good quality supermarket with a better range of fresh stuff (especially bread) than Aldi/Lidl. Located on the other side of the river in square I11
Restaurants in Tavira to avoid are those on the quay with tables and touts outside in square J11 .
Tavira also has a camara obscura in the old water tower up on top of the hill. Good for looking over the town!
The waterparks are a long way from Santa Luzia but here's a list I put together for another:
Aquashow

Krazy World/Algarve Zoo

Zoomarine

Take a look also at these websites

Hope that helps.
Think Aqualand is the nearest to where we are staying but apparently the owner of the apartment has loads of info and brochures in the apartment so will probably be spoilt for choice!!
11 week and 3 days - not that im counting lol
