We've stopped in El Toro in December for the past two years and yes it is very quiet there and in Santa Ponca, there are some restaurants open but you'll struggle to find anything entertainment based.
There aren't too many holiday makers but there are a fair number of ex-pats and property owners that go there for the xmas period.
I'd still recommend going, but make sure you have transport and just go into Palma, it really is fantastic over Christmas, lovely lights in the city, families wandering around casually shopping into the evening, a great atmosphere and plenty of places to eat.
Thanks very much for that. We've opted for Palmanova in the end, will it be livelier there? Really loved Santa Ponsa earlier this year (though it poured down the whole time) but just bit worried about lack of entertainment when its not sunbathing weather! Hopefully we'll be ok in Palmanova, anyone got advice? Please don't say we've done the wrong thing coz its booked now!
you were right not to go to santa ponsa for xmas we went about 3 years back and the place was dead but palma nova did have a lot more open, we had some sun and even sat sunbathing on our balcony.
Hi Julie sorry for the delay in replying, didn't realise I'd got your message. We had a lovely time in Palmanova although we did go into Magaluf for nightlife (Prince William's bar). The hotel we were at was lovely but the food was awful, problem as we were all inclusive. Ah well, you win some you lose some. My son is now planning a trip in Sept with friends to Magaluf & me & my fella going back to Santa Ponsa in August, can't wait!!!
