Just returned from Nessebar with mixed feelings about this years holiday.
Firstly, as many will know, the weather for our first week 12th - 19th June was pretty well overcast, rain, wind with the odd glimpse of sun. Luckily enough it was on our two trips out that week the decent stuff arrived. A boat trip which was part od the 3 in 1 excursion had to be cancelled due to flooding...they took us to a wine tasting event instead...ho hum. Good idea that.
The second week was much better and sun tans were available on tap...most of the time. One cracking thunderstorm viewed from a windblown balcony was a great sight and pretty scary too.
The whole of the Balkans/Greece seemed to be hit by the acute storms right across the NE part of Europe. The Varna area and northern parts have had it really bad as reported by Tonyt in another thread.
The good stuff seems to be back in command now and hopefully everyone this season is blessed with sunshine.
Will post 2014 Balkan excursion list asap.
Its a real shame to get such awful weather in June.
New hotel (Sol Bay 4*) for us and too many kids for our liking. The location put us too far away from the Old Town as well. We have been to Nessebar on day trips before so that was not a problem.
Just looking at going to Sozopol for 2015...anyone any thoughts...?
Hotel Selena 3* half board is favourite at the moment.
Jim, will email you over the weekend. Tonyt
