This is the Caledonian MacBrayne website - I don't know of any other ferries.
here is a link to a ferry company
sorry maria we posted at the same time
Thank you for the replies, will look into their timetables and routes, see if any are siutable, as we`ll be towing a caravan as well.
However, it might suit you to try and go via Arran, that is from Ardrossan in Ayrshire to Brodick on Arran then driving to Lochranza on the north of the island and to get the ferry to Claonaig which is about halfway up the Kintyre peninsula depending on where you think the peninsula begins :-)
I've no idea about what this route would currently cost you nor how feasible it would be with regard to towing a caravan but it is a popular one with people doing 'island hopping' trips because it is possible to then make your way across to the other side of the Kintyre peninsula to get the ferry from Kennacraig to Islay/Jura and then from there back to Oban on the mainland on the ferry which goes via Scalasaig.
Full details of fares (including 'rover tickets') and timetables can be had on the CalMac site as listed by others above.
SM
Thank you SM, that is really useful. You`re probably right about the Portavaddie crossing, the reason I said South of Glasgow was to try and avoid the long drive round. The place we`re hoping to go to is at Muasdale, about halfway down the peninsula I think, so we`ll probably go for the crossing from Ardrossan, if they take caravans. Thank you again.

Make sure you book your crossings to be sure of a place and if you can spend some time on Arran, it's lovely. Have fun
Thanks MariaH
