Hi,

I can't comment specifically on the hotel you're staying at, but I have stayed in several hotels in Tunisia ranging from 3 to 5 star and also eaten at many non hotel restaurants. While I have occasionally heard of people getting dodgy stomachs from food I don't remember it being specifically related to seafood, and personally I've never had any problems.

Hi. Sunstruck. Thanks for putting my mind at rest about the shellfish. Reports on the hotel food are good, so I think I'll be taking the chance. :thanks

Hi digby

Ooops I noticed this post earlier but sorry I forgot to reply to it sooner.
As with Sunstruck I can't comment on the quality of the food in your particular hotel however I have eaten lots of seafood in tunisia both in hotels and resturants around pek and never had any problems. In fact when I started going there nearly 10yrs ago I didn't really like fish and flat refused to eat anything that still had eyes including prawns and whole fish but now love it all lol I would go as far as to say the best fish I have ever tasted was one cooked and served whole in a Tunisian friends house.....Mmmmm yummy lol

hope this will put your mind at rest.....not long till you go now!!

ScubaLeanna, Hi again. Thanks for reply to my query. I will definately be trying these prawns. No,not long now, 3 weeks Wednesday. I am so looking forward to this holiday especially as I have been avidly reading up on everything and getting great help from yourself and others on H.T. I am getting impatient now for our tickets to arrive, then I'll know its's not long! Have had my jags and pathetic soul that I am, have been to the doc. for valium for the flights! I may be on here before then for more info as it's first time to Tunisia. :thanks

Digby , i go 3 weeks today and my tickets were in TA last week , had a phone call and picked them up yesterday , give your TA a ring you never know . i think i am ready to pack now , but will resist the urge to. I think the name of a restaurant for seafood is The Meditteranean or words to that effect, comes to mind and i think it might have been Asleema that mentioned it , but there again i might be wrong . :think Like you i cant wait , i check my airport departure board every week to make sure the flight is going out and coming back on time . Le Pirate in Monastir is also recommended ,

Llindy. Thanks for all that. Getting desperate for these tickets now. Well, I thought I had done it all but you must be smarter than me. It never entered my head to check the departure boards, especially as we leave from Glasgow and I have read online that the Tunisian flight is always running late from there. Now, I will have to start looking at that. Must jot down the restaurants you mentioned just incase they don't have the prawns in our hotel which is A.I. so will be eating in for most meals. Watching loads of forecasts and for some reason they are all so different Hoping Aslemma will tell us what the weather is like when she gets back.

I was quite surprised how popular Tunisia is this time of year , i am flying with Thomson depart 6.55am , there is a Thomas Cook flight going out at 6.25am . Picked my tickets up yesterday and again plesantly surprised as they are in a booklet with lots of information on what to do , money exchange , emergency numbers , kept them by my side most of the evening , now safely put away .
Hope you find somewhere to good to eat , my hubby is not a great fish lover but you never know , i might convert him yet .

lindy. Our tickets are not in yet. Had a call from T.Cook's to say our flight times have been changed but I don,t mind that as they are still aytime flights. I hope we will be as lucky as you getting all that info. with your tickets. Smiled when I read you kept the tickets beside you all evening as I do that too. I read them a dozen times before putting them away. We are not fish lovers either, just shellfish. Don't bother trying to convert your hubby, have tried that and it's impossible! Yes, Tunisia does seem to be very popular and I'm sure we will have a great holiday.
