Cottage by the sea. August. Inexpensive. I doubt they will ever fit in the same sentence.

As for Northumbria, I can't help. But if I wanted to do the same here I would approach holiday letting agencies and say what I was prepared to pay and see what they could come up with. If there was a property available from a cancellation or something then, perhaps, a deal could be struck at this late stage. While the weather continues to be good though a great deal is far less likely.

Do you have any camping gear? May be the better bet.

Yes you're quite right, a bit optimistic to say the least! Thanks for the advice just the same, I'll keep trying on the net.

We did a last min well 2 week deal in Aberdovey mid July, just saw an ad in the paper for a cancellation reduced to £400 from £520. Worked out very well - great place.

You could ring the local tourist boards they do a booking service on the phone i think for a small fee £3-£5? they might know of places to try?

Have you tried places like country hols and the main companies? or the local tourist/visit....websites for each resort/town your interested in?

Good luck, it wont be a cheap break this time of year some places we saw were £700+ a week that was week before kids broke up!
