I am sure that there are many of you that can advise me, I am looking for recommendations of shacks in calengute, I am staying at the Lambana hotel which apparently is very close to the infanteria, although my son and daughter-in-law will be in goa the same time as myself I will be spending the majority of the 2 weeks on my own, so i am looking for shacks that do good food, a great G&T with lunch, but basically where i will feel safe and welcomed.
Never been on holiday on my own before, a little apprehensive but extremely excited.
Inger
Everyone has a favourite, if you ask 10 people you will get 10 different answers. hit the beach and wander and stop where you like the look of the place. My favourite is Boscos. Dont forget if they charge for beds move on. The Lambana is a good location, enjoy.
Thank you Paul
And there is always the big banana next door.
Thats the shacks begining with B sorted then.
any A's out there? Ha Ha, If i do the whole alphabet with all those G&T's Oh my goodness.
Inger
there are many shacks all along the beach as you will have seen last year when you went over xmas.
i would recommend that you just take your pick and dont feel apprehensive about the holiday as i will only be 2 minutes away if you need me.
Jamie
I am sure when you post after your holiday you will say how many people you met and spoke to whilst i Goa
when are you going?
hi Inger,
We like Tgi Fridays Shack we try others but always go back there, They are really good lads and look after you. and they dont charge for sunbeds but the Big Banana Does they where 11 people that always used there shack have done for yrs and after a few days of being there they charged them. so the upt and came to tgi Fridays and said they wished they had come before they have been using the banana Shack for over ten yrs, They are very silly as theses people where there for 6wks every yr.
But you may find another Shack that suits you. Yes your loction is great we stayed right near there at xmas and will be doing so again.
I am sure you will enjoy your holiday.

As Paul said, the Big Banana's a great little place, watching Uncle with his stick chase the hawkers aways! Be wary of "John" who likes his Whiskey and Waters, which seem to end up on your bill!!
Walks thank you another to add to my list will def give TGI a visit.
Kip thanks will at least try the G&T :cheers.
Taffy I am sure i will find someone to gab with Jamie I know you only a min away but I will not encroach on your hols.
Thank you all
Inger
Try Captains Cabin at the end of Tito's road.Great lads, great food and a top little 'chill out' area inside with rugs and cushions and stuff, give it a go,good luck and enjoy xx.
It's a shame that Big Banana are now charging as that's where i have gone until they were closed at the end of holiday.
You will have a great time even alone, I went on my own this year and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Last year we tried different shacks every day as staying in Baga it was very busy. This year we stayed in the Somy Calangute and we walked straight across the road to the beach (7min walk) and found a fantastic shack The Ritz, run by Lawrence and his lovely staff including Leena who works so hard. Good prices, lovely food so we returned day after day and there were also a lot of long stayers using the shack which was busy every day on a really quite part of the beach. if you go you will see our Liverpool Towel hanging up. Nice fresh salad Goan barms as well as one of the best chicken Tikka Masalas we had all holiday, couldn't fault it.
will you be joining us at any of the meets at the Carvery, a great way to meet people and to get loads of advice, (and coffee!!!)
a shack i would always recommend for all the reasons you state is the dommat, good food nice people and safety
Nicky, celcat and Debrag.
Dragon will def try as you say its safe, the list is growing, thank you all again.
Sguigs thought I might give it a go, not sure if its walking distance to the carvery but I will work that out when I get there, probably wed 25th.

We loved bosco's and will definately be going back you will not be able to miss my friend jesus...he has got 3 borat thongs and we have bet him £20 each that he will not wear them all holiday.....introduce your self and i'll buy you a drink......viva la goa
Have to agree with you Dragon. The food in the Dommat is excellent, very good menu and friendly staff. We stopped off there each day on our walk down the beach from Calangute to the Sunburn fesitval in Candolim.
The new lifeguards station was built on their plot and they have had squash in between Captains cabin and Angle heart both of which are been a pain in the backside.
Last week Angle heart,s owner paid the police to pull down TGI's shack but TGI rebuilt the next and are going to court to sort out the problem.
Even though there was no shack, Martin found us sunbeds and cold drinks all day, when we asked to pay he said they had no till and to pay next time
We also use Big Banana, nobody can beat their steak burger and chips or chateaubriand, have never been charged for a sunbed but we do use it about once a week
