Having just returned from The Costa's, with a suitcase full of tat my son bought, I was just wondering what the shops were like over there.
Are they cheapy cheapy souvineer(spell!) shops are are they decent. I got a bit sick of the bairn buying stuff only to find it broke or fell to bits a few days later.
I'm hoping Cyprus shops are less tatty than the ones you find in Spain
they are more tasteful, but like any tourist resort you are going to get the tacky souveneirs etc..
There are actually some nice things to buy in Protaras - although there's a lot of tat too. Also, the shops all seem to sell the same stuff. Picked up some nice herbs and spices mixes in one place though (on the main strip), and now make even better stifados at home!
Are there any shops that sell replica footy strips?
I don't know about Protaras but in Ayia Napa you can get replica strips for about £10. I am guessing Protaras will be similar.
Ayia Napa is probably best for footy strips - a good shop down towards the harbour has shedloads of them - although mainly Man u and Chelsea (not many Albion ones)
We'll be hiring a car for 5 days so may pop in when we visit the aqua park.
10 mins in a car from Protaras. Far less "tat" in Protaras and Ayia Napa than Benidorm though Although an awful lot of the shops are owned by the same company and therefore they all sell the same items, especially the gift/costume jewellery shops
There's also a bus service which runs from Paralimni, via Protaras to Ayia Napa. 80cents each way. Surprisingly fairly reliable.
10 minutes, wow, didn't realise how close they were. Thanks.
there are footie replica in Protaras my boyfriend bought a Germany kit form a shop by the Rising Sun on the corner at the top by the strip
