I am on the verge of booking here, Boa Vista in Albufeira, in May. Can anyone give me some info, ie is it near the old town or the strip, how far is it to the beach, any decent bars and restaurants around etc.
Looking at the details, it seems to suit my needs, quiet but a 5 min walk from bars.
Sardines and port....bring it on!!!
The Boa Vista is up high on Cerro Grande, with fabulous views eastwards across Albufeira and beyond, as far as the Faro peninsula. It takes about 6 minutes to walk down into the Old Town where you'll find a very wide choice of bars and restaurants. The Strip is further away. You could walk it in about 30-35 minutes, but there's a little tourist train which runs between the Old Town and the Strip or you could take a taxi.
There are two large beaches at the Old Town, and many others all along the coastline. The traditional Algarve coves are mainly to the west, starting with Arrifes and Sao Rafael. Also in that direction are the old harbour and the new Marina (about a 10-15 minute walk).
The Boa Vista had a makeover last Winter so it should be looking good inside, although I haven't been in there myself!
