you will probably find more russians now , side has become very popular with them . as for what to take i personally would take sterling and change to tl when you get there . middle of may we got 2.50 tl for £1 . even though over the last few years prices have been in euros i have now seen lots of prices in $ for the russian.

better deal in tl as the £ is good at the moment.

I've been to Side a couple of times, and yes, I reckon it's much more popular with the Germans than, for example, the Fethiye/Olu Deniz area.
Those little "dolmus" minivan taxis run along the main road and in surrounding areas.
And I was unlucky enough to discover that it is actually possible to get 16 very large Germans, and me, into one dolmus on a very hot sticky day.
:)
Side is, in my opinion, a lovely part of Turkey, with lots to see around. If the annual music festival is on while you are there you must go see a performance in the ancient Roman amphitheatre.

Last time I was there I found that lots of prices were quoted in TL and/or euros.
Again, unlike the Olu Deniz area, where UK pounds are often quoted.
