hmmmmm well im not sure about any 60's groups.... but there is plenty of cabaret within walking distance of garden city, which incidently is where i live !!!
and there is a lovely little cabaret bar about 200 metres down the hill opposite, called the lava lounge (hehehe)

Thanks for replying, we haven't stayed in this area before, just a couple of times near Hotel Conquistador on the way to Los Cristianos.

Is there a good cheap supermarket near Garden City and have you any recommendations for restaurants/pubs nearby?

You are just a short walk from the best supermarket and shopping center. You turn right when you come out of Garden City.
there is also a great bar playing 60's music called Mary Rogans and is beside La vista beach.

garden city has its own mini supermarket, buit is quite expensive.... great for essentials though.... as mentioned above.... a 3 min walk will take you to the san eugenio shopping centre which has a mercadona...... there are plenty of bars, and restaurants within a few minutes walk, so take your pick
