I just bought 2 aloe vera plants last week, hopefully will be big enough to extract the sap from for January. Apparently there are aloe plants growing wild in Goa, does anyone know of this? hubby says there is, not sure how reliable his info is although he's been there, probably looking at a cocunut tree or something.

I havn't noticed any growing wild, but plenty in peoples gardens, I bought a plant out there, I think it was 40 rupees.

CMJ, if you have taken your babies off the big one it is possibly sufferring from this, try feeding it with babybio or the like. be sure not to over water as this will kill it (No sogginess) and make sure it is in a sunny spot (window or if really nice put it outside for a bit (bring it in at night though). If it looks grey, that's ok as it does that once it matures.

A healthy plant has clustering rosettes of stiff, upright leaves. The foliage is usually light green with white spots and turns grey as it matures.

It likes a sunny spot with dry air. Rarely attacked by pests. Water moderately in spring, summer and autumn; sparingly in winter. Feed once a month only in spring and summer. Avoid sogginess at all costs.

Hope she's better soon :(

Johnny's Chemist on Calangute High Street sells 100% Aloe Vera Gel.

It comes in purple plastic bottles, it's really thick and gooey, a bit difficult to get out of the bottle but great for prickly heat and new tattoo's!!

If it's 100% Aloe Vera then you'll have to keep it in the fridge once opened otherwise it will go off... I'm guessing it's not and it will contain presevatives... I have a friend who 'deals' in it (that sounds a bit dodgy!), anyway he did last year I guess it the same this year... Lots of places (supermarkets - best one Valaries sell Aloe Vera gel and stuff)....
