From the Ibiza Sun:
Last week the no smoking in public places law came into affect in the Baleares. This law, the first of its type in Spain, stops smoking in all public places such as Bars & Restaurants, if they sell or manipulate food, as well as in schools, cinemas, hospitals, public lifts etc. Special smoking only areas can be set up but this is up to each owner of the bar or restaurant. If they do not create this area for smokers then all smoking is banned in the establishment. Discos & bars where no food is sold are exempt from this pioneering law. There will be a series of inspections set up to make sure that all establishments & public institutions are putting the new anti smoking controls into practice.
Excellant, not so much for me as an ex smoker but for my kids. A total ban starts in Scotland as well in January
Great news, they have the ban in the Ireland and its brilliant
There is no funding available yet to police this piece of legislation and consequently most bars and restaurants are not taking it seriously. However, things may change next year when the law comes into affect on the Spanish mainland.
Not the restaurants but around the bar?
