Same here - we fly out for 2 weeks on 21st. My sister who has had a really tough year is coming to join us with her family for just the last week - she flys out on 28th!! Really hope she doesn't get affected by all this. A week is short enough as it is without been affected by a strike!!
Apparently they have to have the strike before 31st August to hopefully that means that there won't be a strike on the return home - just the thought of been stuck in Palma airport for more than two hours gives me chills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes thank you hippyjack and others who have put posts on with information. i still think they are being so selfish putting people through all this waiting, another 4 days, thats bad.
People have planned, scrimpt & saved, looked forward to a holiday for a long time only to have it scuppered by industrial action.
Really really unfair to say the very least!!!!
THURSDAY - before we MAY know!! Why that long - its ridiculous. We are due to go on 26th so we've got to wait and see as we may get caught up in it. As you say Happyjak, when we have saved very hard all year for a couple of weeks holiday, plus having all had a very stressful year, it doesn't seem fair. Thanks for all your help on this - I'll just have to keep trawling
i can relax a bit now as is seems my flight on the 18th should be ok, don't know about the return though on the 28th. hope they come to there senses and stop this threat of a strike so everyone can enjoy there holidays.
I'm watching this one closely too (now I've found it) and would like to add my thanks hippyjak. I'm due to fly out August 29th.
yeh tell me about being skint through this holiday. me thinks i will not be booking for spain next time, turkey or greece sounds good. saying that will it be their turn next year!!!!
thanks hippyjak and all you guys for keeping up with the news and posting it on here. We 2 are flying out on the 17th, and like most people on here, we have been scrimping and saving. And not having had a holiday for 5 years the kids are jumping up and down with excitment. Haven't the heart to tell them, just keeping fingers crossed. Hope for everyone's sake they do call it off. Greedy barstewards!
El sindicato del sector, USCA, dio ayer de plazo hasta el próximo miércoles 11 para retomar las conversaciones con AENA.
The sector union, USCA, was yesterday given until next Wednesday to resume in November talks with AENA
The original Spanish text has nothing to do with November, it's saying they have until Wednesday the 11th to resume talks with AENA....11th the date, not the month, and now you're looking at the 22nd August if the strike goes ahead because they are being pressurised from all sides to call the date, and it seems the first date after the meeting on Wednesday, will be Thursday 12th plus 10 days = 22nd.
Translations can sometimes put a complete swerve on the meaning of Spanish text.

Sanji
The Minister of Public Works, José Blanco, has warned that the government has "infinite patience" but it is "running out", so it requires that representatives of air traffic controllers have "capacity" of negotiations in the open roundtable between Government and industry to address the conflict.
Yes - get back to negotiations quickly. Stop playing about!
infinite?? But running out? That made me laugh
Yes sanji, translators can give very different meanings. However, hippyjak has been on the ball so far with her posts, so no need to muddy the waters at this point, I don't think.

Hippyjack has been very good indeed, I was posting the latest news and saying that you have to "work around" the translations, so there's no need for you at this point to get personal either.
Hippyjack - Where have you been told that the strike should take place before the date of 31 August? It's not that they must call out to strike before that date and that the strike could go into September? Travelling to Palma with my family on 3 September! Can you send a link to the newspaper you read this in? Thank you/ L.
Just that hippyjak is doing a great job for us all who are worrying about our holidays and her translations into English have been spot on. which we are all reading, knowing that we don't have to also worry that our translations of the situation might be incorrect!!!
Hi Swedgirl - just got back in from an afternoon out - will have a look through all the stories to find you a link. Might take a while - bear with me
