I`ve been watching the news channels regarding the situation with Spanish banks and locals not being able to access their money. I moved away from travelers checks some years ago and used a debit card until Nationwide put the squeeze on. I still have the debit card , always in credit , and have applied for a Clarity card, which I intend to use in the main.
If ATMs were to become unreliable what options would we have. I hate carrying large amounts of cash and don`t particularly trust hotel safes, although I always use them.
If your safe gets broken into, as long as you keep the paper with the serial numbers seperate from the cheques and not in the safe, then you will be paid out.
Considered very old fashioned I know, but I'd rather be old fashioned because hotel safes are not insured for vast sums of money/items, and all the exchange places (official and unoffical ones) will have to run out of money before I'm up the creek without a paddle.
