You are quite right Gemma , and just to let you know that we watched 5 footie games at the sports bar while we were over Xmas/ New Year and never witnessed any sort of violence , bottle throwing etc.
yes ok the odd people shouting out but that makes for the atmosphere doesn't it?
It would dissapoint me to think Goa was becoming overrun with yobs , but maybe the fracas in the sports bar was an isolated incident.
I f the trouble was during sundays match between Arsenel and Chelsea then they definately didn't set a good example anyway as it was an out and out brawl. Not that brawling in a bar is acceptable behaviour , it most certainly isn't and I hope this sort of behaviour does not become commonplace in Goa, the people over there work so hard and tourists should have more respect
I feel that such behaviour was inevitable from the time the first Sports type bars, Scottish, English and Irish pubs arrived. Years ago tourists would sit in the beach shacks at night chatting. Now the pubs with big screen tv's are full and the shacks are quiet. In the past football was on at the weekend, now it is a nightly event. I feel that we can only expect more trouble in the future. Lets hope the clampdown on noise continues and is enfored rigidlly on these establishments.
has it changed that much i was on my own just over a year ago watching Arsenal v Man u place full of liverpool and manchester lads me being the only Londoner loads of light hearted banter no problems
Well we were there for 5 footie matches over xmas and new year and it was definately just good hearted banter , nothing vicious and it was packed every time, so maybe the trouble described was an isolated incident, I really hope so
We were there last month and thought it was a rip off. They charged 50 rupees for small kings and then try to charge us for beers we had not had. Plenty of other places around that have the big screens and charge alot less for your drinks.
i was in the sports bar when the trouble started though i was round the other side.
apparently it was bolton and spurs fans fighting,if they were fans and not just people from those areas, as there game was being shown at the same time as arsenal chelsea
carnt say how bad it was as i didnt see it but it didnt seem to last long though there seemed to be a bit of a atmosphere when i went to the toliets which was near where it happened
as some one who doesnt drink it does make me laugh about people going on about people wearing football shirts on here as though there inferior and then people saying how cheap drink is etc i goa
what do you expect when drink is cheap, people will get hammered, football shirt or not, praps goa should stop selling alcohol

Have to agree Ron, 100 per cent. And I know this is a bit
but certain people in here are of the opinion that if you are wearing a £2.99 top from Matalan you wont cause trouble, but people wearing £40+ football tops will cause trouble. Regardless of what people are wearing and wherever they drink, if they want to cause trouble, they will do it. And you hit the nail on the head about the cheap drink, that plays a very big part in it (REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU ARE WEARING!)
Personally I have never seen any fights or trouble in Goa and I dont want to.

Agree Gemma33 totally the drink does make all of the difference a yob will always be a yob in whatever he wears.
is it the yob or is it the booze if a yob is always a yob why blame the booze:?: I must say that I don't agree with a ban on alcohol, I've had a few in my time all I want to do is have a laugh and sleep so how about banning the yobs instead Alan
