US Dollars are widely accepted so it's easier to take US and get local currency as you need it.

Was just thinking about having to try and get my head around the exchange rates... as i understand that any change will be given in EC$...!?

That's correct. If you purchase something with US$, change is normally given in EC$. You'll soon get used to the currency's.
