Head down south and stay in a beach hut for a few days. Can recommend Agonda it's beautiful. A taxi will cost around £25 return and it takes a couple of hours. Or you could do it by bus or train if your feeling adventurous. Have a look here for some ideas

We have just booked to stay in beach huts at Agonda for 2 nights - 5 of us. The thought of it keeps me going through all this horrible weather.

we stayed in Agonda last yr at the south end we stayed at a place called Cuba, next to the beach it was great we are going back this yr, its just over a 2hr drive.

No need to go that far, just half an hour north of Calangute you can hire a rice boat on the Chapora river for a night or two and be on a differant planet or just 15 minutes further north will get you to Ashwem, great beach and plenty of huts to choose from or next door at Mandrem

The huts at Golden Eye in Ashwem are lovely, or Dunes in Mabdrem , not too far away but chilled to the max
