the glass bottom boat and reef trip..in my opinion only... would be a total waste of money.. 2 reasons for me saying this. 1) I am a diver and snorkelling is not in the same league as actual diving. 2) Quite often, the hotel has its own house reef with easy accessibility from the shore. In quite shallow waters, there is plenty of life to be seen...although admittedly in Sharm, alot of the coral close in is dead and you have to go quite some way away from Sharm to see live coral reefs with such things as fan coral etc.
Tiran Island is nice, it was where I did my first ever dive in the sea! I think it does seem a little pricey though...you can barter price wise and there are plenty of firms offering the same excursions.
If you get chance, a trip to St Catherine's monstary is always worthwhile and would be a memorable experience. I am not sure how much this would cost now.
As for the swimming with dolphins....no trip can guarantee that you dive with wild dolphins...and nowt beats seeing them in thier natural environment. There is a resident pod at Bluff Point that I was fortunate enough dive with. I would never ever go on a trip or support anything where they are offering swimming with dolphins in captivity.
Thank you! The price Ive put down for the Tiran Island excursion is including hiring the snorkelling gear, Ive found one which charges £20pp for the excursion but hiring the gear Ive read varies in price, some people have paid around £2.50 (cheap) but one women said she was charged £11.
