Hi highfieldc,

The weather in Bulgaria in September is very much 'pot luck' - it has been boiling here up to today but is cloudy today (although still very warm), the weather is forecast to break down on Friday, according to local radio meteorologists.

Last year, as far as I can recall, the first week or so of September was COLD but then became warm right up to the 26th/28th, when I left.

I would suggest that you check out the weather 'sticky',where I linked to the 'Wundergound' website - it gives historical weather data for the past 10 years for your chosen location (the nearest to SB would be Burgas) and dates.

Thanks for that Baldur, Have you any idea how lively the resort will be at this time, am I right in thinking that bars etc start to close down, the couple in question love Benidorm and have never been anywhere else for a long time, but now fancy trying Bulgaria, again they have good reports from myself and visitors who travel in high season but not for towards the end of September

Hi highfieldc,

Afraid that I can't help on the resort, as it's a place which I tend to avoid at any time of year - much too overdeveloped & unsightly for my taste.

P.S. The local 5-day TV forecast here gave average temperatures from 29 to 25 degrees C until Sunday, with no indication of the rain which previous radio forecasts had predicted from Friday.

<Edit> 12th September update:

This is my final morning in Bulgaria for this year - this morning's 5-day TV forecast ranges from highs of 32 C tomorrow, rapidly declining to 19C on Tuesday & Wednesday.

I always go in Sept ( Just returned ) and would not recommend any later than 3rd week. After this the resort is beginning to wind down and places begin to close.
Unless of course you are looking for a cheap, relaxing break and then it's ideal.
