Hello Bulgaria Board!

A row has kicked off over on the general Complaints Board which at first looked like your average lousy tour operator customer service problem but has turned out to be something much more serious.

It seems that some hotels (and for all we know, possibly villas) in the Sunny Beach / Nessebar area do not have legal pools and the authorities have started closing them down - and filling them in with sand. The Hotel Nessebar Beach is the one which first sparked things off on here but by the sound of it others may be affected. From the fact that we haven't been inundated with posts on this matter I suspect that not all tour operators are keeping their customers informed in advance. A Bulgarian local TV article on this which goes back to the beginning of June has been found so it hasn't just happened. If you are booked to go there it may be worth phoning your tour operator and asking if your hotel is affected.
