do you mean meal in a restaurant, or a place to take a picnic ?

for a restaurant, Xlendi, the restaurants at the end of the bay (up the hill near the fort) are about the only place you can see the sun set.

places to take a sunset picnic,/drink are Wardija Point, or the tower at Xlendi are my favourites.

good to hear Grand as good as normal - have you been to the following in Gozo ?
Ggantija temples
salt pans near Marsalforn
Rikardos restaurant in the citadel for the best local cheese bread and wine - perfect for lunch
Sammy's restaurant at the harbour (below Gleneagles) - the best place for fish on the island - tell Sammy that Mark in Sannat recommended him if you go - the restaurant I've been to most this summer - must be nearly 10 times !
Noel & Sandrah's restaurant at Mgarr Ix Xini (often daytime only) - excellent BBQ fish and prawns - can only get to with transport - mention my dog's name Peppa to them as my dog (a Tal Fenek, or Rabbit dog/Pharaoh dog) is better known than me as the breed is the national dog of Malta and quite rare now !
don't forget to go the Santa Maria festa in Victoria this weekend, both for fireworks and the agricultural show - check out the animals on Monday morning (6am to noon) - maybe see my dog winning trophy for best Tal Fenek !!

Da Manuel is the restaurant in Xlendi (just been for a walk with the dog and walked past it) - its the best one for a view of the sunset, but not sure if at this time of year you will actually see the sunset. Food was good, but changed hands this year, and hjavn't been back this year

its rather late notice, but there is a BBQ at the football club just up the hill from the Grand tonight - starts 8:30pm - i'll be at the bar i'm sure

We couldn't be in a better place than gozo. We're going to head to Xlendi at the weekend!

BBQ was v good, then went to the salt pans to watch the shooting stars - saw a few, but the cloud cover was quite heavy

as for tips for the races, count the legs as my grandma always told me !

remember this weekend is one of the busiest of the year in Gozo (Santa Maria Festa), so book ahead at any restaurant you choose ! hopefully see you Monday morning at the agricultural fair - i'll either be showing my dog or on the SPCA stall

We had a fantastic at Xlendi. Thanks for the recommodation. Food at Da Manuel was fantastic. Had a lovely sunset. didn't quite make it to Rabat today, we were swimming at the marina in Mgarr, It was v hot.
