is there a supaermarket near the marina, is it reasonable and does it have a good selection

The largest supermarket in town - Pingo Doce - is a five minute stroll ( on the flat ) from the marina.It's got everything you can possibly need;apart from food and drink,it has its own deli, dry cleaners,butchers,newsagent and florist and it also sells hardware - irons, toasters etc.
If you're staying in the marina apartments you're bound to see it on the way there.
