As you have not had any direct response to your query I will put in my two-penneth as Taiwan has also been of interest to me.

The reason for this is that it is also a 'gateway' to Vietnam - both Hanoi and Saigon (HCM City), certainly by China Airways and to Saigon by EVA.

Could be interesting for DIY Vietnam - rather than twinning with a Thai beach.

From my own dabblings, reading Insight guide etc. it seems a beautiful island in its own right but I've never met anyone whose been...well apart from two Taiwanese guys we met in Thailand
