Any body done a trip to the Taj from goa with any tour operator or any trip organiser in goa .Would like all info on prices ,journey ,etc. Would be most grateful on any info.
Many thanks
Goa lover Manchester.
Cost us £800 for 2 adults which included all transfers/ return flights/trains/guides/entrance fees/2 nights accomodation in Delhi.A great trip and very well organised - sounds expensive ?.... well if we had more free time would like to do the trip our own way,but i guess without a lot of planning and loads of info i would have found it difficult - what a massive place Delhi is !!
I suppose having it sorted for us meant we saw all of the sites worth seeing - and a few that really opened our eyes to the 'true' India.
I would reccomend Daytripper and in the future will be heading back to Agra to see this superb building.
You may be able to pick up a cheaper deal if you get your own flights from Goa and book a tour with a company based in Delhi (you will be pounced on at Delhi airport with the words '' I be your guide,I be your guide''!!!! - could be fun ?
p.s flight time from Goa 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
I think this trip duration is 5 6 nights, 7 seven days, but they do a shorter trip than this.
If you ar eunder 30 years of age you get a discount with the airlines too!!
The cost we have paid is around £450!
We have recently used Davidair on a trip to Kerala. I know they run several different Taj trips. They really looked after us and they also
have a good web site. The contact is Emmy and they are situated on
the Candolim Road just after the football gound . The website is
http://www.com2goa.com & the e.mail address is davidgoa@sify.com Please mention to Emmy that we recommended her. She really is a very nice and
efficient lady.

I have just returned from Goa, and heard great things about Daytripper, has anybody got the correct web address for them as the one I googled did'nt work !.
Give this a try ;
I also did the trip with Day Tripper and couldn't fault them all went like clock work
message for LauraJ - how was your Taj Mahal trip with Daytripper...am very confused, not sure whether to book with them or not. We are flying out on the 26th Feb for three weeks. ta
Only 10 months to go before we out in Goa again!!!! We would like to visit Agra flying from Goa, has anyone done this and can give us some advice. We know we can book through Travel Agents but hey we're Nurses (and tight lol)
I take it you are after visiting the Taj ? If so you fly to Delhi from Goa and then take the train to Agra. How long will you be in Goa for when you fly to Delhi ? If you are on a 2 week stay i would organise a trip through an agent in Goa.We have used Day tripper based in Calangute and went to the Taj with them.
The trip was well organised with guides all the way and a decent hotel in Delhi.
Goa to Delhi - 2 1/2 hour flight, then an evening tour of Delhi and on to your hotel with more time to explore the city on your own.Next morning up at 5.00am to get the 6.30am train to Agra. After the Taj (brilliant - out of this world !) you travel on to various towns and citys - gets tiring with all the driving.Return to Delhi for another night in the hotel and fly back down to Goa next day.
With some planning you could do this yourselfs and save a fortune - but it looks a daunting task.
Cost for 2 of us (flights/trains/hotel/guides) £800. - not cheap but as a one off it's worth every penny (we are looking at returning someday).
ditto to the previos report, we too went with Daytripper and the trip was first class. A cautionary note however, December and especially January the weather in Delhi and Agra can be horrendous. Whilst our trips organisation by Day tripper was faultless the weather was auful, Delhi was shrouded in freezing fog, trains and flights were delayed, we had the Taj Mahal to ourselves, when you sat on the seat made famous by Di's photo, you could not see the Taj for the fog and the actual building was streaming with icy condensation and it was the coldest we have ever been, even colder than when we once visited Niagara falls in January when it was miles below freezing The locals reckon after the third week in January it is o.k. Having said that other years you could be fine, it just depends on your luck Alan
As Spike says you can do it cheaper but I wouldn't like to have to find my way own way around those places. With Daytripper you are escorted all the way. However, if you're the really adventurous types, Spicejet and Kingfisher Airways are doing with air travel prices in India what Ryanair and Easyjet did over here. It may be worth looking at their web sites to see what the flights cost and I'm sure you could sort out transport and guides with a bit of research. The Taj Mahal was everything people say it is...and more!
I was also really impressed with Jaipur and the observatory there, and the Amber fort. Wonderful.
The downsides were the guides always trying to take you to places to buy jewellery/ marble/ carpets. It got a bit much with one guy and we nearly fell out with him. I hadn't travelled all that way to look at carpets and marble tables we didn't need and couldn't afford!
The weather when we went was great (Nov) but as Gramps said, December and January are a no-no for Delhi. The flights are often diverted due to fog and that's a real problem!
