Do you mean Jalopenos?
They are actually 'pimienta picona' and are grown on Tenerife (amongst other places). I don't know whether you will be able to buy them in the UK - well, I've no doubt that you will be able to, but finding somewhere will be the tricky bit.
Are these the same peppers that are grown in Padron and named after the town near Santiago de Compostela..? although they may be grown in other places now.
They have to be picked at a point where they are not allowed to grow above a certain size to be classed as Pardron peppers, this also changes the flavour the bigger they get.
Jalopenos are hotter I think.
'Pimientos de Padron' may be used in Tenerife, but that is not the original source for these peppers or the name.
