I have always found taxis hard to come by also. Not all the time but from the Old Town at night definately. I only know of 2 taxi ranks, one up towards the BP garage site which is now flattened and the other at the opposite corner of the Square near the Lladro shop. Most other times its okay but there does seem to be a shortage of taxis, especially when you are used to Cyprus where you can hardly move there are so many!

Hi lummie yeah the square next to lladro shop is the only place they are stopping now. Glad to hear about cyprus though im off there next june for the first time. Was hoping someone who stayed in albufiera would give us a reason why they are like gold dust at moment. A year passed june they were so easy to get .
It would help if they allowed the taxis to stop in the street when flagged but they dont. There still dont appear to be enough anyway.
Cyprus is the opposite, there are loads of taxis and they always beeop their horn every time they pass a pedestrian in case they want a hire. It gets annoying after a while but handy.
Enjoy Cyprus, I stayed there before it got all commercial but still love it in October when still hot but quieter.
See ya
