I would like to ask what Tenerife is like in the summer? I know it sounds like a daft question.
We usually go to Tenerife in February if we can, to escape the UK winter, and to the Balearics in summer. Last winter (2013) we went to Puerto de la Cruz and although we loved the resort, the weather wasn’t very good. I know the north of the island has a different climate from the south. Luckily we didn’t have much rain, but there was hardly and sun and there was a cold wind most of the time. It wasn’t very busy either. (anyone reading this who is going in winter, we still had a good time, heaps better than the snow in UK, but you will need some windproof clothes)

I’ve noticed that prices for Puerto de la Cruz in summer are less than the Balearics, and I’m wondering if this is because the weather is no better in summer (I’ve heard it’s the island of “perpetual Spring”), or because of the longer flight which may not be so attractive with the Med being nearer? Or does it get TOO hot to do anything? One thing of course, I presume it still gets dark at around 7pm whereas in the Med it would still be light until much later.

The hotel I’ve got my eye on is actually HALF the price of the one we really like in Menorca (which isn’t the cheapest on the island I must admit)…but of course the Menorca one is handier for the beach etc, and not a steep hike in and out of town……
We do enjoy swimming, but we also like an interesting resort with lots of walks.
We're looking to go in the second half of July, to fit in with work colleagues

If anyone can give me any advice on the climate I would be very grateful.
