hi there! me and my bf went to tenerife last year for new year and it was brilliant! we stayed at the neptuno apartments in pdla/costa adeje, but i wouldnt recommend them for the pure reason that they're up quite a steep hill and all the restaurants are at the bottom of it so its quite a treck after dinner! lol on the night of new year we went down to the waterfront/harbour where theres loads of bars and there was loads of entertainment and fire works at the bells, it was amazing! so much so we've booked up to go this year but stayin at the califonia apartments this time, hear there more centraly located. hope this helps x x

I'm thinking about taking my girlfriend to Tenerife (pref Los Christianos) for New Years as well .... any advice about booking? Is it best to get something through a Travel Agents or would it better/cheaper to book a flight and arrange accomodation? If so, does anyone know of anywhere to book and/or anyone have an appt to rent etc?

Thanks!

Hi there, We are going this christmas. Booked direct with owner via a website http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk there are loads of these websites if you just put something like 'villas and apartments in tenerife' in search engine.booked cheap flights through http://www.ct2-flights.com. also went to Italy in 2004 and booked independently - much cheaper and more personal. will never use overpriced travel agents again! Good luck!

Hi,
Thanks, have spent all weekend trailing around travel agents and websites, didnt think i would have too much trouble booking to go away for new year. Have now managed to book, have done it diy staying at paloma beach for a week, son will enjoy going to los cristianos as we havnt been before but friends have just come back and told him all about it.
Daughter off to hong kong with friend and family so thought it would be nice to take son away, but trying to fix it around days off at work has been a nightmare.

Well done Theresa. You were lucky to get anything booked so late in the year. You normally have to book at the beggining of the year for christmas/new year in Tenerife. Have a great time

hi murgy,
Thanks will do, hope you get sorted out and have a good time also.
Working all over xmas so will be nice to just get away to chill out.

Hi Jackie,
Thanks will do, didnt realise it was so popular tenerife for that time of year, will it be very busy? What about new years eve, are there lots of things going on?
Going self catering, are restaurants all open and is it easy to get somewhere to eat on new years eve or do you need to book?
any advice would be appreciated, never been to tenerife before.

Thanks
Theresa

Christmas and New Years Eve are brilliant in Tenerife and I would rather be there than anywhere else.

Regarding Christmas (6th January). If you go into Los Cristianos on the evening of the 5th they have the parade of the Three Kings on camels. It is very family orientated. They throw sweets to the children and everyone is made to feel welcome. General celebrations and good cheer. There may be some restaurants that are closed or some may close earlier. The Canarians are very family orientated.

New Years Eve in my opinion has to be spent on the front at Fanabe. Great atmosphere with people from all the bars along the front just mixing with everyone. Also it is a great location to see all the firework displays along the coast at midnight. Have never booked a restaurant for New Years eve or Christmas but it might be wise to eat a little earlier as some owner like to get home to their families for the celebrations.

All in all you should both have a brilliant time. In my opinion you have picked the best time to go to Tenerife. We always visit at least once throughout the year but always spend three weeks there for christmas and new year. Where else in Europe can you sit on the beach Christmas Day in glorious sunshine?

Have Fun

Hi,
I'm going to tenerife for Christmas with my husband and 2 children. Can anyone tell me whether Santa visits the hotels as my 7 yr old is a little concerned also do the hotels serve a traditional Christmas meal on Xmas day. thank you

Santa doesn't visit Tenerife until 6th January, but if you are taking presents with you for your children to open on 25th December then although your son might not see Father Christmas he can still have his gifts delivered in the normal way. Can't help regarding the hotel meals as we always go self catering, but having said that they normally do gala evenings on such occassions. Make sure you check before you go because it might be too late to book the meal once you get there. We found this last New Year. The resort where we stayed had a gala evening for New Year but it had to be booked a week before we arrived. You can normally find a Christmas Roast in most restaurants.

Hi peapods - Santa did visit at least one hotel on Christmas Day - I was at the Torviscas Playa year before last, and he came round the pool with gifts. Same in Lanzarote another year - on a camel round the hotel grounds that time! Been 3 times in Las Americas for Christmas in hotels and all 3 served traditional Christmas dinner. Which hotel are you staying in?
