I am currently at my friend's family hotel in Evksinograd, having seen a guest off at Varna airport last night.
My friend, Vili, had a call from a taxi driver in Varna yesterday evening, asking if he had rooms free for two French people who had taken the taxi to an address where they had, supposedly, booked rooms over the internet and had paid €700 in advance for their stay - the address was not a hotel or guest house and the occupants denied aall knowledge of any such booking, so they were stuck with no accommodation and no money to pay for alternative accommodation!
Unfortunately, Vili's hotel is full, so he was unable to help.
How shocking for those poor people. 
How people can do that is beyond me, but it just goes to show that you must do your homework first before parting with any cash.
That's the one thing going with a big operator gives, security.
